Mercedes Moné's Performance in AEW Under Scrutiny

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash criticizes Mercedes Moné’s work in AEW, claiming the former Sasha Banks is “phoning it in” compared to her WWE days.

Mercedes Moné’s Performance in AEW Under Scrutiny

Mercedes Moné’s placement on BET’s list of the 15 greatest African-American wrestlers of all time has sparked debate across the wrestling world. The current AEW star landed at number five on the prestigious ranking, which featured legends like Booker T at number one and The Rock in second place.

Not everyone agrees with Moné’s lofty position, including WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash. During his “Kliq This” podcast, Nash didn’t hold back when discussing the former Sasha Banks’ current work, responding to a clip of Jim Cornette analyzing the BET list.

They were commenting on this, yes. And there was Sasha, or what she calls herself now, the CEO. She was third. Then I saw one of her matches and what can I say… she’s phoning it in. She’s not the same girl who tore the house down in Brooklyn with Bayley.

The veteran was referencing Sasha Banks’ iconic match against Bayley at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 2015, widely regarded as one of the greatest women’s matches in WWE history. Since leaving WWE, Moné has established herself in AEW, where she currently holds the TBS Championship.

Despite her increased media presence and status as a key figure in women’s wrestling’s expansion, Nash’s comments raise questions about whether Moné’s AEW style maintains the same intensity that made her a standout in WWE.
