“Multi-time World Champion recounts disheartening experience with WWE: ‘They shunned me'”
WWE often has long-term plans in place, and a returning star sometimes may not fit into those plans. However, this wasn’t the case with Kurt Angle, who returned to the Stamford-based company in 2017. He recently detailed his disappointing final run with the promotion.
A few years ago, Kurt Angle returned to WWE for a second and final run with the company and later retired from in-ring competition. Many fans had high hopes for the Olympic Gold medalist’s final run, but the management failed to deliver a memorable run in the years that followed.
Speaking on Busted Open, the former WWE and TNA World Champion addressed Baron Corbin’s recent release. Angle also detailed the disappointment in his second run and how the management did nothing meaningful. He also wished the best to The Lone Wolf.
“Listen, I left the WWE in 2006. I came back in 2017. I knew that they were going to have some feelings about me, and I knew they weren’t going to treat me as good as they would’ve if I wouldn’t have left. I think they kind of stuck it to me and they had me lose a lot of matches, which is fine. I understood. I wanted to retire in WWE because that’s where I started my career. It was just a little crazy that they didn’t want to do anything with me. They just wanted me to do jobs for the wrestlers. It was a little disappointing, but I totally understand why they did that. I just wish that Baron Corbin were to have a more successful career because he deserves that,” Angle said. (From 13:02 to 13:53)

Kurt Angle was disappointed in WWE for Baron Corbin’s run
Baron Corbin played a major role in Kurt Angle’s final run as they feuded in the Stamford-based promotion for months. However, Corbin was never pushed to the top after he retired the multi-time World Champion.
In the same interview, the Hall of Famer expressed his disappointment in the management for not using Baron Corbin. The veteran wanted Corbin to reach new heights, but it never transpired.
“I mean, when you win King of the Ring, you’re going to be a future World Champion, and that did not happen for Baron. I was really disappointed,” Angle said.
It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for the released star.
