WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long has directly contradicted recent reports concerning Vince McMahon’s declining health. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestlebinge after attending the former WWE Chairman’s 80th birthday party, Long stated he doesn’t understand the speculation that McMahon looked unwell.
Long’s assessment stands in stark contrast to descriptions that emerged from the event earlier this week. One attendee, who hadn’t seen McMahon in years, reported that he “looked 80,” adding that he appeared “more frail, walked slower, and looked his age in a manner that he hadn’t in decades.”
While Long acknowledged that McMahon’s face might have looked “a little swollen,” he painted a different picture of the 80-year-old’s condition.
“He didn’t look bad to me, you know what I mean?” Long said. “That’s why I don’t understand what people are talking about… He looked nice to me. Had on a nice suit both nights, man—he was getting around, moving around. God, he looked great to me.”
The conflicting observations came from McMahon’s lavish birthday celebration, held last weekend across upscale Manhattan venues, including Gotham Hall, which featured performances by Kid Rock and AC/DC. The guest list included a mix of past and present wrestling figures like John Cena, The Undertaker, Kane, JBL, and Sgt. Slaughter. A since-deleted photograph posted by Jerry “The King” Lawler also showed current stars Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, and The Miz in attendance.
Notably absent from the private gathering were WWE executives Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and Nick Khan, who were reportedly overseas for a company tour. The party was a strictly personal affair with no official WWE involvement. According to reports, when talent inquired about attending, they were told it was their own personal business.
The celebration occurs as McMahon remains separated from the company he once ran. He resigned from TKO in January 2024 following a lawsuit filed by a former employee alleging sexual misconduct and trafficking.
