Dakota Kai emerged victorious in a crucial No. 1 Contender’s match on Monday Night Raw, securing another shot at the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Kai, who previously fell short against Lyra Valkyria in the tournament finals last month, scored a decisive win over Ivy Nile with her signature Detonation Kick.
The victory comes after weeks of Nile’s vocal pursuit of the championship opportunity. Despite building momentum in recent weeks, including eliminating Valkyria from the Royal Rumble match, Nile’s championship aspirations were halted by the more experienced Kai.
For Valkyria, the upcoming title defense adds another challenge to her schedule after recent setbacks. The champion failed to qualify for the Elimination Chamber match following a loss to Bayley, and now faces a rematch against the woman she defeated to claim the gold.
WWE has not announced when Kai’s championship match will take place, though the title defense is expected to occur on an upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw rather than at Elimination Chamber.
