Oba Femi captures the NXT Championship
Nigerian star reaches the pinnacle of NXT, becoming the main male champion of the silver brand.

After a historic reign with the NXT North American Championship, Oba Femi now begins a new chapter with the NXT Championship. The Nigerian became the new champion after defeating Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe at NXT New Year’s Evil.
Initially, the match started without Thorpe’s presence, being a one-on-one between Williams and Femi. Thorpe, however, appeared in the final portion of the match, preventing Femi from finishing Williams.
Femi, nevertheless, remained perseverant and after causing Williams to accidentally hit Thorpe with a “Trick Kick,” he executed the “Powerbomb” on the then-champion, ending the match.
