With Wrestlepalooza just six days away, tonight’s go-home episode of Monday Night Raw is set to explode with confrontations and revenge-driven matches as the final pieces fall into place for Saturday’s event.
The broadcast will open with one of WWE’s biggest stars, as John Cena is scheduled to kick off the show in his home state of Massachusetts. This appearance, part of his farewell tour, comes just days before his clash with Brock Lesnar and follows Lesnar’s brutal attack on both Cena and Sami Zayn during last week’s SmackDown. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce confirmed the segment, stating: “I can confirm kicking off the broadcast tonight, the one and only, the Never Seen 17, John Cena.”
The show will also feature a heated face-to-face confrontation as the rivalry between two of wrestling’s most high-profile couples escalates. CM Punk and the returning AJ Lee are set to stand across from World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, following Lee’s attack on Lynch that turned their upcoming mixed tag match at Wrestlepalooza into a personal grudge fight.
Revenge will drive much of the night’s in-ring action. Lyra Valkyria seeks payback against The Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez after Perez’s interference cost her a match last week. In a similar storyline, Penta finally gets a one-on-one shot at Kofi Kingston, looking to settle the score after repeated run-ins from The New Day and Grayson Waller have cost him multiple victories.
Dragon Lee is also slated for singles action against El Grande Americano. This comes after Lee rushed to AJ Styles’ aid last week, when Styles was ambushed by multiple attackers dressed as the masked figure.
With Seth Rollins’ faction The Vision expected to appear and a possible update on the Women’s World Championship match—after Stephanie Vaquer missed last week’s contract signing—tonight’s Raw is shaping up to be a chaotic final stop on the road to Wrestlepalooza.
