Orange Cassidy has been medically cleared for an in-ring return and is expected back on AEW programming “sooner rather than later,” according to multiple reports. The former International Champion has been sidelined for over five months after undergoing surgery for a serious shoulder injury.
Cassidy has been out of action since a four-way match on the March 19 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he reportedly suffered a torn labrum. His last major storyline involvement saw him as part of “The Conglomeration” alongside Mark Briscoe and Willow Nightingale.
His comeback arrives at a critical time for the company, as recent injuries to top stars Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay have thinned the main event talent pool.
Despite his on-screen absence, Cassidy has reportedly been a consistent presence backstage at recent AEW events, signaling his return was a matter of timing rather than physical readiness. He was also said to be in London during the Forbidden Door pay-per-view weekend.
With creative plans now being finalized for his comeback, speculation suggests Cassidy could immediately reignite his rivalry with Jon Moxley and The Death Riders. The two feuded over the AEW World Championship in late 2024, culminating in high-profile matches at both Full Gear and Worlds End.
Confirming his impending return, one source stated that unless there is a major setback, Cassidy “is not expected to be out through the end of the year like many other injuries.”
