Original Plans for Saraya’s AEW Women’s World Title Loss Revealed

Saraya has opened up about her original pitch for dropping the AEW Women’s World Championship following her departure from Tony Khan’s promotion. The English wrestler recently shared how she actually wanted to lose the title she held for just 44 days.

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Saraya revealed she had hoped to drop the championship to Toni Storm at Full Gear 2023, which took place shortly after her actual title loss.

I wanted to lose to Toni in California, something I really wanted to do. I thought it would be a big moment and she was growing as a babyface, she was the biggest babyface in the company, even now.

The only thing I wanted different was that detail of who I would lose to, and I wanted to lose to Toni. Either way, I’m happy the title made its way to her. I’m not complaining.

Saraya captured the women’s title in a Fatal 4-Way match at AEW All In: London 2023 last August. She ultimately dropped the championship to Hikaru Shida during the “Title Tuesday” episode of AEW Dynamite on October 10.
