Cody Rhodes, the current WWE Champion, was originally scheduled to face Kevin Owens in a post-show match on RAW. However, Fightful Select reports that plans changed during the night, with Carmelo Hayes replacing Owens as Rhodes’ opponent. Rhodes successfully defended his championship in the match.
The change comes ahead of Rhodes and Owens’ scheduled Ladder Match at the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event.
Before their championship encounter, the two will participate in a contract signing at Saturday Night’s Main Event, with Shawn Michaels serving as the officiant.
