Popular star explains personal significance behind WWE name change
SmackDown Superstar reveals personal connection to Korean-inspired ring name, bridging family heritage with WWE career evolution.

SmackDown Superstar reveals Korean-inspired ring name stems from childhood nickname given by her mother, highlighting cultural connection.
Michin opened up about the origins of her current WWE ring name, which she adopted after joining The O.C. in late 2022. The former Mia Yim explained that the name change emerged naturally from the group’s tradition of using nicknames, particularly during their time competing in Japan.
The name holds deep personal significance for the SmackDown Superstar, connecting to her Korean heritage and family history. Michin shared insight into the meaningful choice during her appearance on Casual Conversations with The Classic.
The 35-year-old detailed how her mother used the term, which means “crazy” in Korean, as a nickname for both her and her sister during their childhood. When presented with the opportunity to select a nickname upon joining The O.C., this family connection made the choice clear.
Reflecting on her decision, Michin offered a personal perspective on maintaining the name despite fan questions about returning to her previous moniker.
I know that The O.C. has their own [nicknames]. Especially when they wrestled in Japan, they had their own nicknames and stuff. So when I came back and joined them, they were like, ‘You need a nickname. Like, that’s just part of the crew.’ So, Michin is something that I’ve had since I was a kid, from my mom. She would call me and my sister crazy, obviously. So, to me, it was my choice picking this name. A lot of people ask why I don’t go back to Mia Yim, and I’m okay with that, too. But I want everyone to know that Michin is special to me because of my mom.
Championship aspirations fuel Michin’s 2025 outlook
Following her recent United States Championship tournament final match against Chelsea Green at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Michin has set clear objectives for the coming year. During an appearance on Wesh 2 News, she shared her perspective on her competitive journey and future goals.
The former O.C. member reflected on her progress and championship ambitions in a candid statement.
So, I posted this right after my match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where 2024 was my year of recognition, where it was for people to recognize me and what I can fully do. 2025 is going to be redemption where I’m coming after mine, at the end of the day. I was this close to getting that US Championship, and I could smell it, and now that I got that scent, I’m not going to stop before I get it.

Rising NXT Star Set for Major Main Roster Title Showdown
NXT star Sol Ruca defeats Chelsea Green on NXT to earn a WWE Women’s United States Championship match scheduled for next Monday’s show.

Sol Ruca has earned a shot at Chelsea Green’s WWE Women’s United States Championship. The NXT star will challenge for the main roster title on next week’s episode of NXT.
The championship opportunity comes after Sol Ruca and Zaria defeated Green and Piper Niven in tag team action last week. Ruca secured the victory by pinning the current champion.
WWE has scheduled the title match for the March 18 episode of NXT. This marks a significant opportunity for the rising NXT talent to capture main roster gold.
Green has held the WWE Women’s United States Championship since December 14. She captured the inaugural title at Saturday Night’s Main Event and has maintained her reign for three months.
The upcoming championship match represents the latest crossover between WWE’s main roster and NXT. Green and Niven’s appearance continues the trend of established performers competing on the developmental brand.
Next week’s NXT will return to the Performance Center in Orlando. The show moves back to its regular venue after this week’s special at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
WWE has announced additional matches for the March 18 show. The D’Angelo Family (Channing Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino and Adriana Rizzo) will face The Culling (Brooks Jensen, Niko Vance and Izzi Dame) in six-person tag team action.
Ricky Saints will also make his WWE NXT singles debut. He faces Ridge Holland in what promises to be an intense confrontation between the two competitors.
The Women’s United States Championship match serves as the featured bout for next week’s show. The contest pits Green’s experience against Ruca’s rising momentum following her victory over the champion.

New Tag Team Forms After SmackDown Loss
Following her Women’s United States Championship loss to Chelsea Green on SmackDown, Mia Yim received a new tag team name with B-Fab from WWE personality Shane Helms.

Mia Yim experienced a setback on this week’s SmackDown when she failed to capture the Women’s United States Championship from Chelsea Green in their street fight match.
Green secured the victory after Alba Fyre interfered and aligned with Green and Piper Niven, joining their faction. This interference potentially sets up a rematch opportunity for Yim, who already has support in her corner.
After SmackDown, Yim shared an image with B-Fab on her Instagram account. In the comments section, WWE personality and wrestling veteran Shane Helms suggested “MiFab” as a name for the duo, combining elements from both performers’ names.
Yim and B-Fab have collaborated multiple times on the blue brand, establishing themselves as reliable allies when needed. With Alba Fyre now aligned with Chelsea Green, Yim can call upon B-Fab if this rivalry continues.
The Women’s United States Championship match on SmackDown featured significant outside interference that impacted the outcome, creating natural storyline progression for future confrontations between these competitors.

Major Betrayal in WWE Women’s Division Teased
A throwback image posted by Chelsea Green featuring Dakota Kai alongside Piper Niven and Alba Fyre has sparked speculation about a potential faction change for the Damage CTRL member.

Damage CTRL has lost its cohesion since Asuka and Kairi Sane’s absence from WWE television. The faction has become increasingly scattered, with each member pursuing individual goals instead of functioning as a unified team.
With IYO SKY focused on her singles career as Women’s World Champion, Dakota Kai could potentially leave Damage CTRL entirely to align with Chelsea Green and her growing faction.
Chelsea Green recently posted a throwback image on Twitter that caught fans’ attention. The Women’s United States Champion appeared alongside Piper Niven, Alba Fyre, and Dakota Kai in the picture, potentially hinting at Kai joining Green’s expanding group.
A potential alignment between Kai and Green could manifest through an attack on IYO SKY, which might trigger the return of Asuka and Kairi Sane. This development could establish a new tag team rivalry and bring renewed attention to the women’s factions heading into WrestleMania.
Such a move could also create new championship opportunities for Kai, potentially setting her up to challenge for the Women’s United States Championship while allowing Green to pursue the WWE Women’s Championship in the coming months.
