The commentary booth for WWE’s premium live events has its high-energy frontman back. Pat McAfee made his return at WrestlePalooza, immediately taking his seat at the announce table to help kick off the show.
McAfee’s return began backstage, where he was greeted by NBA star Tyrese Halliburton before sharing an embrace with Triple H. He then walked through Gorilla Position and emerged to a massive ovation from the live crowd.
The former NFL punter joined Michael Cole and Wade Barrett on commentary just in time for the opening match between Brock Lesnar and John Cena. As Lesnar made his way to the ring, Cole was seen cowering in fear at the desk, while Cena’s entrance featured a large group of kids in matching gear.
This appearance marked McAfee’s first time on WWE programming in months, following a lengthy hiatus from his regular commentary duties on Monday Night Raw.
It is not yet clear if this is a permanent return to the announce team or a one-night appearance for the major event. Regardless, McAfee’s presence immediately injected a new level of excitement into the broadcast.
