The recent “alliance of convenience” between Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss appears to have a definitive expiration date, as a new report indicates a singles match between the two is planned for SummerSlam.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a proposed internal card for the August premium live event listed a one-on-one match between Flair and Bliss. This development suggests their partnership, which has gained significant fan support, was designed as a short-term storyline leading to an eventual split.
This news surfaces just days after the duo unsuccessfully challenged for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in a Fatal 4-Way match at Evolution on July 13. The context of that loss now frames the team’s future, which seems to be heading in one of two conflicting directions.
While the singles encounter at SummerSlam appears to be the primary plan, other rumors suggest Flair and Bliss could get another opportunity at the tag titles. This alternate path would see them challenge the champions, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, to a traditional tag team match.
The storyline’s next chapter is set for tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown. Flair is scheduled for a non-title match against Rodriguez, a direct continuation of the feud from Evolution. With Bliss also advertised for the broadcast, her involvement will be critical in determining whether the team moves toward a breakup or another title opportunity.
