With the main events set for SummerSlam, speculation turns to who else might find a spot on the historic two-night card.

Possible Marquee Matches Set to Take Place at WWE SummerSlam

With the main event picture for WWE’s first-ever two-night SummerSlam now largely solidified, questions remain about how the company will fill out the rest of the card for the August event at MetLife Stadium. High-profile contests like John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship and Gunther vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship have been confirmed, leaving few top stars without a clear direction.

On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Garrett Gonzales analyzed the current card, noting that while the biggest matches are set, several notable names still need a spot.

“Almost all the time, like if you think about the top guys—the money guys—you know, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, John Cena—we already got their matches. You know, when Roman—we don’t know if it’s a singles or a tag—but we basically know the match. So, you know, there’s not going to be anything bigger. We got Rhea’s match, you know…”

One significant name discussed was Jacob Fatu, who has been a disruptive force since his arrival. Both hosts speculated on a potential singles match for him against a fellow member of The Bloodline.

“Whatever Jacob does, maybe Jacob and Solo again,” Meltzer suggested.

“I think Jacob and Solo, sure. Or maybe Jacob and Tama Tonga,” Gonzales added.

The discussion also turned to the women’s division, where Charlotte Flair currently lacks a match. Meltzer believes a logical spot for her would be in a Women’s Tag Team Title match, possibly teaming with Alexa Bliss.

“Charlotte Flair obviously is going to be in a big match. So that all makes sense.”

Another potential matchup floated was AJ Styles vs. Dominik Mysterio. While seen as a likely addition, Meltzer noted its placement on the card.

“I’m guessing AJ versus Dom. That’s not necessarily, I think, a big match, but…”

With several weeks still to go before the event on August 2 and 3, WWE has time to finalize these undercard bouts and complete the lineup for its two-night stadium show.
