Possible Plan for Roman Reigns' Return Revealed After John Cena and The Rock Form Alliance

WWE officially announces Roman Reigns for upcoming SmackDown appearances amid speculation he may align with Cody Rhodes against John Cena and The Rock’s new alliance.

Possible Plan for Roman Reigns’ Return Revealed After John Cena and The Rock Form Alliance

WWE has officially confirmed Roman Reigns will appear on the March 21 and 28 episodes of SmackDown, marking his first television appearances since his loss at the 2025 Royal Rumble. The timing of his return coincides with significant storyline developments following WWE Elimination Chamber.

The premium live event concluded with John Cena’s dramatic heel turn after winning the Men’s Chamber match. When Cody Rhodes rejected an offer from The Rock, The Final Boss apparently instructed Cena to assault Rhodes, establishing a powerful alliance between the two Hollywood stars.

This new partnership creates a challenging situation for Rhodes, who now finds himself outnumbered against two of WWE’s most prominent figures. The American Nightmare’s predicament has sparked speculation about potential allies who could even the odds.

While many expect Reigns to begin a rumored program with CM Punk and Seth Rollins upon his return, the current storyline developments present an alternative possibility. The Original Tribal Chief could potentially align with Rhodes to counter the threat posed by The Rock and Cena, similar to their previous collaboration at last year’s Bad Blood premium live event where they defeated The Bloodline.

Adding further intrigue to Reigns’ return is the possibility he might introduce a new member to his faction. Lance Anoa’i, a 32-year-old member of the Samoan wrestling dynasty, reportedly signed a WWE contract last year and has been rumored as a potential Bloodline addition. Their connection was previously established in 2019 when Reigns rescued Lance after an attack by Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon.

The potential alliance between Reigns and Rhodes raises questions about The Original Tribal Chief’s relationship with The Rock. Despite The Final Boss acknowledging Reigns and presenting him with the Ula Fala, tensions may exist between the cousins. During WWE Bad Blood last year, The Rock seemingly issued warnings to both Rhodes and Reigns, suggesting unresolved issues that could explain a potential split.

If this scenario materializes, it could eventually set the stage for a long-anticipated confrontation between Reigns and The Rock, fulfilling a dream match many fans have wanted to see. However, until Reigns makes his official return to television, these potential developments remain speculative.

WWE’s confirmation of Reigns’ upcoming appearances indicates significant storyline progression in the weeks ahead as the company continues building toward WrestleMania 41.
