Charges are expected to be filed against Raja Jackson following his physical assault on independent wrestler Syko Stu at a KnokX Pro event last week. The update was provided by wrestler Doug Malo, who intervened in the attack, during an appearance on “The Masters of Wrestling” podcast.
Malo stated he spoke with a detective about the ongoing Los Angeles Police Department investigation.
He’s saying that, because of the all the evidence, the state is going to pick it up. I’ve already talked to a detective who is on the case. It’s not like he’s not going to jail. He’s just not there yet.
The incident occurred on August 23rd, when Jackson, son of former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, entered the ring during a match. The situation escalated from what organizers called “a work that went wrong” after Jackson slammed Stu to the mat, knocking him unconscious. He then delivered more than 20 legitimate strikes to Stu’s head before Malo and others could pull him away.
The entire affair appears to have started with a backstage confrontation earlier in the evening. During a livestream, Stu, seemingly in character, hit Jackson with a drink can. After realizing Jackson was not part of the show, Stu apologized. It was later suggested Jackson was told he could get his “receipt” in the ring.
Following the in-ring attack, Stu was hospitalized with what were described as severe injuries, including facial fractures and lost teeth. As of August 27th, his family confirmed he was awake and able to speak but faces a “difficult recovery ahead.”
In the days after the incident, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson issued a public apology, stating:
I do NOT condone my son’s actions AT ALL!
He noted that his son is an MMA fighter, not a pro wrestler, and had suffered a concussion in sparring just days prior.
Knokx Pro Wrestling Academy also released a statement, condemning Jackson’s actions as a “selfish, irresponsible act of violence.” The LAPD confirmed it took a felony battery report at the venue and that detectives were assigned to the case.
