In a recent livestream, Rampage Jackson directly addressed the controversy surrounding his son, Raja Jackson, and the brutal attack on wrestler Syko Stu. The former UFC champion stated he feels bad about what happened and does not condone his son’s actions, while also taking aim at the “clickbait” and “misinformation” he has seen online.
Jackson explained that the situation has put him in a “bad mood” and that he feels for Syko Stu and his family. He acknowledged his duty as a father to have his son’s back but insisted he will let “justice play out and take its course.”
“I feel bad about what happened to Syko Stu. I don’t condone what my son did at all—it’s very unfortunate,” Jackson said. “I’ve seen a lot of people editing stupid clips for clickbait just to make money. That’s not fair. And I’ve seen a lot of racist people showing their true colors.”
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 23, at a KnokX Pro Wrestling event in Los Angeles. During a match, Raja Jackson entered the ring, slammed Syko Stu (Stuart Smith) to the mat, and struck him with more than 20 punches before being restrained. The attack left Smith apparently unconscious.
In an earlier statement, Rampage characterized the situation as a “work that went wrong.” He explained that prior to the match, Smith had struck Raja with a drink can, and his son was then told he could get his “payback” in the ring. Compounding the issue, Rampage revealed his son had suffered a concussion from sparring just days earlier and “had no business doing anything remotely close to physical contact.”
KnokX Pro Wrestling released a statement condemning the attack as a “selfish, irresponsible act of violence.” The promotion noted that a planned spot escalated into a reprehensible act.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the incident and confirmed a felony battery report was filed. The case has been assigned to detectives for investigation, though no arrests had been made as of Monday, August 25.
