Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has publicly stated that police should investigate Syko Stu, the man his son Raja Jackson assaulted in a wrestling ring. Speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, the former UFC star called for investigators to look into Stu for instances where he has allegedly “attacked somebody backstage and ped people off.” Jackson directly questioned, “The police need to investigate that s***. How many times Syko Stu done attacked somebody backstage and p***ed people off, being drunk and s***?”
Jackson’s demand is made while the Los Angeles Police Department is already conducting an active investigation into the incident, with the focus on his son, Raja. Professional wrestler Doug “The Epic” Malo has already provided an interview to detectives, later stating his confidence that an arrest will be made due to extensive video evidence.
Syko Stu, whose real name is Stuart Smith, was recently released from the hospital after suffering a serious head injury, trauma to his upper and lower jaws, and a fractured maxilla bone that resulted in the loss of several teeth.
The conflict between Raja Jackson and Stu reportedly started when Stu hit Jackson with a beer can, an action believed to be a planned spot. Reports indicate that while Raja Jackson seemed to accept Stu’s subsequent apology with a handshake, he later entered the ring and delivered a series of punches to Stu’s head as he appeared to be unconscious.
This is not the first time Rampage Jackson has defended his son’s actions. While conceding that Raja “went too far,” he has repeatedly accused Stu of being drunk and reckless at events. To date, Jackson has not provided any evidence to support his claims of Stu being intoxicated or having previously assaulted others backstage.
The fallout from the assault has had significant professional consequences, as KnokX Pro Wrestling has been dropped as a WWE ID affiliate.
Legal action beyond the police investigation is also expected. According to Malo, lawyers have been retained by Stu’s family, and a civil lawsuit against Raja Jackson is a strong possibility to seek damages for his injuries and lost income.
