As his son Raja awaits a potential arrest warrant, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has shifted focus from the in-ring attack itself to the actions—or inaction—of those surrounding it. Speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, the former UFC champion vehemently denied recent accusations that he paid anyone to remain silent following his son’s assault on independent wrestler Syko Stu. Jackson stated the only money he spent was on a lawyer’s retainer and questioned why it took Stu’s own team so long to intervene.
Jackson was adamant in his denial of any payoff, suggesting the delay in intervention from Stu’s friends is the real reason for a lack of police statements. “F** no,” Jackson stated. “I didn’t offer anyone any money… What took his friends or team so long to get in there and get Raja off of him? That’s probably why nobody’s talked to the police. Not because I f**** paid anybody off.”* He emphasized that such an act would be illegal and that the police should be investigating the delayed response in the ring.
The incident stems from an event at Knokx Pro on August 23, where Raja Jackson entered the ring and attacked Stuart “Syko Stu” Smith, slamming him and delivering over 20 punches while Smith was motionless. This in-ring assault happened hours after a backstage argument where Smith struck Raja with a beer can, an interaction Smith later said he believed was part of a “work.”
The attack left Smith hospitalized with serious injuries, including a fractured maxilla bone, trauma to both jaws, and the loss of several teeth. He was released from the hospital by August 31 and is now recovering at home, supported by a GoFundMe campaign. As of September 2, lawyers for both parties have become involved, and the Los Angeles Police Department is officially investigating the matter for felony battery.

KnokX Pro wrestling characterized the situation as an “irresponsible act of violence.” Rampage Jackson’s public account has evolved since the attack. He initially described it as “a work that went wrong” but on September 1, he asserted that Smith was intoxicated during the backstage confrontation and that event organizers had given his son permission to get his “get back” in the ring.
In his more recent comments, Jackson has also refuted any claims that the attack was attempted murder. As of now, no arrest has been made, but Raja Jackson is still awaiting a potential arrest warrant in connection with the incident.
