Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has provided a tragic new context for his son’s recent actions, revealing that Raja Jackson “has not been the same since his mom got murdered.” The MMA legend made the statement in a recent live video, addressing the controversy surrounding his son after a legitimate in-ring assault.
This statement adds a somber new layer to the violent incident that occurred on August 23 at a KnokX Pro Wrestling show. During the event, Raja Jackson legitimately attacked wrestler Syko Stu, slamming him unconscious before delivering between 15 and 23 unprotected punches to the downed opponent.
In his video, Jackson clarified that the family tragedy was not an excuse for the assault. “This don’t got nothing to do with what is going on,” he stated. “But all I’m going to say is my son has not been the same since his mom got murdered… I’m not a psychiatrist, I don’t know what the f**k to do.” He also mentioned that Raja has become distant while trying to be “more of a man.”
The Los Angeles Police Department is currently investigating the attack as a felony battery. Raja Jackson had already left the venue before officers arrived on the scene. Syko Stu was taken to a local hospital, and an update on August 27 confirmed that he has since regained consciousness.
Before this recent revelation, Rampage Jackson had characterized the situation as a “work that went wrong.” He explained that his son had been told he could get his “payback” in the ring after Syko Stu hit him with a can earlier in the day. Jackson strongly condemned his son’s excessive violence and also disclosed that Raja had suffered a concussion just days before the event.
For clarification, the woman Jackson referred to is Raja’s biological mother from a relationship that predates his well-known marriage to Yuki Imoto.
In a video filmed shortly after the assault, a distressed Raja Jackson was seen with a blood-smeared shirt, saying, “I’m fed up with people messing with me, man… I’m not some pushover.” The controversy has also engulfed the promotion, as fellow wrestlers have accused KnokX Pro Wrestling of attempting to obstruct the police investigation.
