The reason for Adam Copeland’s recent departure from All Elite Wrestling programming has been revealed, according to PWInsider. Copeland was written off television to film the final season of the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, reprising his role as Ares.
His on-screen exit was delivered through a pre-taped segment on the September 24 episode of Dynamite. In the storyline, Copeland announced an indefinite leave, citing the need to be with his family while expressing uncertainty about his wrestling future.
The angle tied directly to events at All Out, where FTR attacked Copeland’s wife, Beth Phoenix, hitting her with a Spike Piledriver after a tag match that also featured Christian Cage.
On the same episode of Dynamite, Maxwell Jacob Friedman also announced a temporary hiatus from AEW. MJF’s absence is reportedly to accommodate his role in the film Violent Night 2.
FTR addressed their attack on Phoenix during the live broadcast. Dax Harwood claimed the move was accidental after she struck him. The segment ended with Willow Nightingale confronting the team, leading to JetSpeed’s Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight attacking FTR.
