Reports cast doubt on Big E’s in-ring return as WWE career shifts

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has indicated Big E’s in-ring career may be over following his neck injury sustained on the March 11, 2022, episode of SmackDown. The 38-year-old has not competed since the incident.

Responding to fan inquiries on Select Answers, Sapp expressed pessimism about Big E’s potential return to competition:

I believe the former WWE Champion is done with his in-ring career. I hope to be proven wrong, but I haven’t heard anything indicating he would return to the ring.

The situation has recently evolved on WWE television, with The New Day rejecting Big E’s managerial offer on RAW. This led to Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods embracing heel personas, drawing negative reactions from the RAW audience.

Netflix role opens new chapter

Big E’s relationship with WWE continues to evolve as he takes on hosting duties for WWE RAW Classics, a new project launching on Netflix.

The position expands his current role hosting kick-off shows, which he has maintained since March 2022.

The announcement aligns with WWE’s content expansion strategy ahead of RAW’s move to Netflix. His new role emerges amid changing dynamics with The New Day, who recently turned on their former teammate during the December 2 episode of RAW, claiming he had become a burden to the group.
