Dr. Britt Baker was absent from backstage at the September 24 episode of AEW Dynamite in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, according to PWInsider. The absence has fueled speculation about her future with All Elite Wrestling, as she has not appeared on AEW programming in nearly a year.
The situation was amplified by comments from Dave Meltzer, who described the Pittsburgh show as a pivotal moment for her status. “Whatever the Britt Baker deal really is, if she’s not on this show, I’d think she’d never be back,” Meltzer said.
AEW President Tony Khan has previously addressed the speculation, dismissing rumors that Baker intended to leave the promotion. Khan stated Baker had “never talked to me about leaving” and attributed her absence to AEW’s rotating talent policy, emphasizing she would return “when the time is right.”
Baker, a former AEW Women’s World Champion, has been a cornerstone of the roster since the company’s launch in 2019. Her last televised match took place in November 2024.
Her absence in Pittsburgh was particularly notable because the broadcast featured the unveiling of the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship. The titles, presented at ringside by Renee Paquette, became the third championship exclusive to the women’s division.
