Ricky Saints Reveals Why He Didn’t Join NXT–TNA Brawl

Ricky Saints has explained why he avoided the chaotic brawl between WWE and TNA talent on Tuesday’s episode of NXT. Speaking on Going Ringside, Saints said his only focus was capturing the NXT Championship, not the inter-promotional fight that closed the show.

He detailed his mindset during the melee, which featured wrestlers from both promotions.

“I saw the NXT Championship amidst of all this chaos between TNA and NXT. You know, they’re fighting, it had nothing to do with me. I saw an opportunity, and I went for it. I’m good at being zoned in. I can do this a lot and lock in on something. And that’s what I did. Went for that title because ultimately I feel like it’s gonna be mine. Oba had other ideas of course, and you know, it is what it is. But I’m glad I was able to walk through the minefield and get to where I wanted to get to, which was the NXT Championship on that podium.”

The TNA presence dominated the September 23 main event, which saw NXT Champion Oba Femi face TNA World Champion Trick Williams. The champion vs. champion match ended in a disqualification after TNA’s Mike Santana attacked Williams, triggering a roster-wide brawl. Amid the chaos, Saints approached the NXT title belt on its pedestal while others fought.

His actions directly set the stage for his upcoming opportunity. Saints will challenge Oba Femi for the NXT Championship this Saturday, September 27, at the No Mercy premium live event. A win would give him a second title since joining WWE in February 2025, adding to his reign as NXT North American Champion.

As the TNA invasion angle unfolds, WWE has also filed a new trademark application that appears connected to the storyline.
