Sol Ruca has earned a shot at Chelsea Green’s WWE Women’s United States Championship. The NXT star will challenge for the main roster title on next week’s episode of NXT.
The championship opportunity comes after Sol Ruca and Zaria defeated Green and Piper Niven in tag team action last week. Ruca secured the victory by pinning the current champion.
WWE has scheduled the title match for the March 18 episode of NXT. This marks a significant opportunity for the rising NXT talent to capture main roster gold.
Green has held the WWE Women’s United States Championship since December 14. She captured the inaugural title at Saturday Night’s Main Event and has maintained her reign for three months.
The upcoming championship match represents the latest crossover between WWE’s main roster and NXT. Green and Niven’s appearance continues the trend of established performers competing on the developmental brand.
Next week’s NXT will return to the Performance Center in Orlando. The show moves back to its regular venue after this week’s special at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
WWE has announced additional matches for the March 18 show. The D’Angelo Family (Channing Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino and Adriana Rizzo) will face The Culling (Brooks Jensen, Niko Vance and Izzi Dame) in six-person tag team action.
Ricky Saints will also make his WWE NXT singles debut. He faces Ridge Holland in what promises to be an intense confrontation between the two competitors.
The Women’s United States Championship match serves as the featured bout for next week’s show. The contest pits Green’s experience against Ruca’s rising momentum following her victory over the champion.
