Roman Reigns May Drop Tribal Chief Gimmick

Roman Reigns entered through the crowd during RAW’s main event and utilized a Shield-style entrance and moves, potentially signaling a character shift from his Tribal Chief persona.

Roman Reigns May Drop Tribal Chief Gimmick

Roman Reigns made a dramatic return to WWE during the Steel Cage match between Seth Rollins and CM Punk on Monday Night RAW. Reigns pulled Rollins out of the cage door, inadvertently helping Punk secure the victory before launching an attack on his former Shield teammate.

Reigns entered through the crowd section and jumped over the barricade in classic Shield fashion, reminiscent of his earlier persona. This entrance method differs from his typical approach as the Tribal Chief, where he would typically enter via the stage ramp.

The former champion connected with a Superman Punch on Rollins and followed by delivering Rollins’ own finisher, the Stomp, leaving Rollins motionless at ringside. This attack established that Reigns has returned seeking retribution.

The Shield-style entrance and crowd interaction marked a notable departure from the Tribal Chief presentation that defined his record-setting 1316-day reign as world champion. Reigns achieved unprecedented success with this character during his lengthy championship run.

During the confrontation, Paul Heyman entered the cage to help CM Punk, who had been an ally to the OG Bloodline at Survivor Series 2024. Punk previously assisted Reigns against Solo Sikoa’s new Bloodline faction during the Men’s WarGames Match.

Reigns appeared visibly surprised to see his longtime Wiseman with Punk. Despite this, Reigns proceeded to attack Punk while Heyman watched. The interaction suggests possible tension in the relationship between Reigns and Heyman.

During Paul Heyman’s Hall of Fame induction last year, Reigns stated that as long as Heyman stood by his side, he would continue to be the Tribal Chief. This comment now appears potentially significant given the developing situation between the two.

The Shield-inspired elements in Reigns’ return could indicate a temporary shift away from the Tribal Chief character, particularly if Heyman ultimately sides with Punk in their ongoing storyline.
