Roman Reigns May Still Have Unfinished Business With CM Punk

Despite Roman Reigns' return focusing on revenge against The Vision, a new analysis suggests his longstanding conflict with two-time WWE Champion CM Punk remains a key motivation.

Roman Reigns May Still Have Unfinished Business With CM Punk

Roman Reigns’ return to WWE has set the stage for payback, but Sam Roberts of Notsam Wrestling believes the story may circle back to CM Punk. While Reigns’ immediate focus is on those who recently put him on the shelf, Roberts argues the Punk feud is far from finished.

Reigns appeared on the September 29 episode of RAW for the first time since being attacked by The Vision at Clash in Paris on August 31. He stormed into a Tornado Match, blasting Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed with a steel chair to hand The Usos the win.

Soon after, Reigns dropped a cryptic message on social media: “The Regain.” In a post-show clip, he doubled down, telling Jey Uso, “What’d I tell you? This is your show. F–k all of ’em. It’s only about you. It’s only about us.” Jimmy Uso looked on from the sidelines.

The Punk tension dates back to the 2025 Royal Rumble, when Punk eliminated both Reigns and Seth Rollins before brawling with Reigns outside the ring. Their storyline deepened when Paul Heyman turned on both men at WrestleMania 41 to side with Rollins.

On his podcast, Roberts put Reigns’ actions in perspective. “Who is Roman Reigns without that championship? Well, on one end, he’s motivated by revenge,” Roberts said. “He’s going right for Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, Paul Heyman, Seth Rollins, and anybody that’s wronged him. I think CM Punk is still on that list, too, because at no point has Roman ever, ever, even slightly hinted at the idea of being okay with CM Punk.”
