Roman Reigns was stretchered out of the arena at Clash in Paris following a severe post-match attack by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. The storyline injury serves as the reason for Reigns’ planned hiatus from WWE television, as he is scheduled to begin filming a movie role this coming week.
The incident occurred after Reigns defeated Bronson Reed in the opening match. Following his victory, Reigns signed and threw his “Shoe-La-Fala” sneakers into the crowd. During the celebration, Bron Breakker appeared on a commentary table and speared Reigns through the adjacent American announce table. Reed then joined the assault, delivering multiple Tsunami splashes. The attack continued even as medical staff secured Reigns to a gurney, with Reed returning to hit more splashes on a defenseless Reigns.
Backstage, WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce confronted Breakker and Reed, ordering them to leave the building immediately. After they insisted on staying for Seth Rollins’ main event match, Pearce had security escort them out, threatening suspension without pay if they returned.
This storyline provides a definitive reason for Reigns’ upcoming absence. He is expected to be on the set of the Street Fighter film starting September 2, with filming scheduled to run through September 26.
The angle at Clash in Paris was a decisive conclusion to a storyline that began earlier in the month. On the August 4 episode of Raw, Reigns was also attacked by Seth Rollins, Breakker, and Reed in what was initially planned as a way to write him off television. However, the decision was later made to add Reigns to the card in Paris, leading to today’s more definitive injury angle.
