During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Samantha Irvin discussed her tenure in WWE, focusing on potential career changes under Vince McMahon’s leadership. The former ring announcer revealed her strategy to make the announcing role distinctive enough to warrant a position change.
Growing up under Vince, honestly, if there was someone like Samantha Irvin, Vince would have jumped out of the box. He would have said the same thing: put her somewhere else, do something else.
Irvin explained that her goal was to transform the ring announcer position into something unique that would lead WWE to transition her into a different role. Despite becoming a fan favorite as an announcer, she admitted this success did not align with her career aspirations.
The ring announcer role was never my end goal, and I’ve always been a goal-oriented person. When I felt I had reached the ceiling of what I could do and there was nothing left to chase, I knew it was time to leave.
Following her WWE departure, Irvin remains open to returning to professional wrestling but seeks opportunities that allow for career innovation.
