Saraya Announces Departure from AEW
Former Women’s World Champion Saraya announces her departure from AEW during her new “Rulebreakers” podcast, citing a mutual split with no bad blood.

The bombshell announcement came at the episode’s conclusion, as first reported by Entertainment Weekly.
I’m here to tell you that my relationship with AEW has come to an end. I had an incredible time there. There is no bad blood between us. It was a magical experience.
She initially planned to simply take holiday time off, but ultimately decided it was time to step away completely from the squared circle.
I started thinking – what do I have left to do in wrestling now? Right now, there are no stories where I would fit in.
Saraya made it clear her departure had nothing to do with AEW President Tony Khan.
It has nothing to do with Tony. It’s just me thinking that I don’t fit in right now. I feel like I might be taking the place of someone who could be doing something really special.
The former champ didn’t shut the door on an eventual return to AEW, keeping her options wide open.
That’s not to say I’ll never come back to AEW – I absolutely love it there, but I’m taking a step back and focusing on myself for a while, and putting my energy into the podcast with the whole team here. What an amazing team I have here. Thank you, AEW. Thank you to the fans of AEW – I loved my time there. Tony is amazing. And anyone who ends up working there will enjoy their time. It’s just great. And I will miss the women’s locker room. I will miss you guys, but don’t be strangers! You know where I am. I see some of you outside the company anyway.
After Entertainment Weekly broke the story, Saraya took to X to confirm the split was mutual.
It’s mutual! But I loved my time in AEW and had a great time with the girls there. It will hold a special place in my heart. Tony was great, AEW was great. I feel so lucky to have been a part of this family for a few years. On to 2025! What am I going to get myself into now?
