Seth Rollins, a fixture of WWE for more than fifteen years, has acknowledged that the clock is ticking on his in-ring career, revealing he has only “a couple years” left on his current contract.
The World Heavyweight Champion spoke candidly about his future during an appearance on the Nightcap show. While reflecting on his career, the discussion shifted to family and life beyond the ring, leading to his admission about both his contract status and his desire to spend more time with his daughter.
“I don’t know if I wanna do it into my 50s. I’ve got a couple years left on my contract with WWE,” Rollins said. “My daughter’s 4-and-a-half, she’s almost 5, and I wouldn’t mind spending some extra time with her in a few years.”
The comments carry weight coming from a performer who has devoted his entire adult life to wrestling. Rollins, who began in 2003, is approaching 40 and has already logged more than 2,000 matches. He credited advances in sports science with allowing his generation to extend their careers.
“I love this business, I’ve given my entire life to it, it’s given me a great life,” he added. “I met my wife through this business, I have my daughter because I met my wife through this business… I’ve built a little mini empire out of this industry, so I imagine in some capacity I will stay involved one way or another for as long as I can.” (h/t Wrestletalk)
That commitment was evident earlier this summer in what became known as “the Ruse of the Century.” Rollins spent weeks portraying a severe knee injury, a deception so convincing it drew concern from John Cena. The storyline climaxed at SummerSlam, when Rollins revealed he was fully healthy, cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, and took the World Heavyweight Championship from CM Punk.
That cash-in remains the centerpiece of WWE’s main event picture, fueling the bitter feud between the two men. Rollins’ admission about his contract horizon now adds another layer to his current run, as he prepares for this Saturday’s Wrestlepalooza, where he will team with his wife, Becky Lynch, in a high-profile mixed tag match against CM Punk and AJ Lee.
