Becky Lynch has been noticeably absent from WWE television since her last appearance on the May 27, 2024 episode of RAW. New information has emerged regarding the factors behind her extended time away from the ring.
Wrestling journalist Sean Ross Sapp addressed the situation during a recent episode of The Hump podcast, revealing that creative plans were presented to Lynch in January that failed to materialize. These proposals reportedly involved multi-person match formats rather than singles competition, potentially including triple threat or tag team scenarios.
There were creative plans for her in January. It didn’t happen. I don’t know exactly what the pitch was, but I know it wasn’t a singles match. I don’t know if it was a triple threat, fatal four-way, tag team — whatever it was. She is signed, under contract for months — at least four or five that I know of. But she hasn’t been brought to TV to do anything. She’s very smart. She knows what creates buzz. But she also doesn’t want lazy booking. I don’t think she wants that. She wants something inspired.
Despite confirming her contractual status with WWE, Sapp indicated that Lynch has taken a strategic approach to her career. When recently asked about WrestleMania 41, Lynch playfully remarked:
It’s WrestleMania season, isn’t it? Look, I’m not wrestling anymore. Aww, maybe someday, but not now — but my husband is!
