US State Most Disapproving of John Cena's Heel-Turn Revealed
Social media data analysis reveals South Dakota leads nation with 94% negative reactions to John Cena’s shocking heel turn and alliance with The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber.

John Cena’s alliance with The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber continues to generate significant fan reaction across the United States. VegasInsider tracked social media responses from all 50 states, revealing which regions responded most negatively to Cena’s character shift.
South Dakota topped the list with 94% of posts expressing negative sentiment toward Cena’s actions. This marked the only state with negative reaction exceeding 90%, significantly higher than other regions.
Rhode Island placed second with 89% negative posts, followed by Louisiana at 87%, Alaska at 86%, and Idaho at 85%. These five states showed the strongest disapproval of Cena’s decision to join forces with The Rock.
WWE rarely schedules events in South Dakota, making it unlikely Cena will face direct crowd backlash from the state anytime soon. However, WrestleMania 41 takes place in Nevada, which registered 79% negative posts about the situation.
Wyoming residents showed the least negative reaction nationwide with 60% negative posts, still indicating widespread disappointment but notably lower than other states.
First Take’s Shannon Sharpe and The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart both addressed Cena’s turn in their respective programs. Stewart used the wrestling storyline to draw parallels to real-world political dynamics between Donald Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The full data showed substantial negative sentiment across all regions, with 43 states registering 70% or higher negative reactions on social media between March 1 and March 3.
