For most superstars, a last-minute change to a championship match can bring frustration. For Stephanie Vaquer, however, the shake-up to her WrestlePalooza plans has taken on special meaning.
In an interview with INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Vaquer reflected on the cancellation of her originally scheduled bout with Naomi. While she expressed happiness for Naomi, she revealed that the new match—a clash with IYO SKY for the vacant Women’s World Championship—feels even more significant. “Sometimes everything changes for one reason… my birthday, my dad’s birthday, and he come for first time, watch my match live,” Vaquer said. “So everything is perfect.”
Vaquer also discussed the origins of her striking presentation. She explained that her makeup is tied to an early-career injury when a knee to the face broke her nose and orbital bone. Her signature horns, meanwhile, became a fixture after fans reacted strongly, and she noted they’re more than cosmetic. “Yes, so it’s true, horns hit hard.”
The conversation also highlighted the challenge Vaquer continues to face outside the ring: delivering promos in English. The Chilean star clarified that her slower pacing comes from translating in real time. “I don’t want people to think, why does she speak so slow? It’s because I try to translate everything,” she said, adding that she takes weekly classes to improve.
With her father set to watch her perform live for the first time, Vaquer now heads into WrestlePalooza in Indianapolis with a chance to make history. On Saturday, she meets IYO SKY in what will be the most important match of her WWE career—the battle to crown a new Women’s World Champion.
