A nine-year alliance may be fracturing under the weight of a recent championship loss. On September 4, Angelo Dawkins of The Street Profits posted a message on X that read, “Maybe he’s Right.“, intensifying speculation that the team is on the verge of dissolution. The post follows the team’s unsuccessful challenge for the WWE Tag Team Championship against The Wyatt Sicks at Clash in Paris.
Dawkins’s message is widely interpreted as a direct response to comments made by The Wyatt Sicks’ leader, Bo Dallas, on the August 29 episode of SmackDown. During that broadcast, Dallas questioned the legitimacy of the bond between Dawkins and Montez Ford, suggesting their partnership would not survive the failure to defeat his group.
The psychological warfare from Dallas capitalized on visible friction during the championship match in Paris. At the start of the bout, Dawkins instructed Ford to exit the ring so he could begin, a directive that prompted a look of clear annoyance from Ford.
This on-screen narrative aligns with industry analysis indicating that WWE intends to separate the team. Reports from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer suggest Montez Ford is viewed internally as a potential future World Champion, while there is apprehension regarding Angelo Dawkins’s prospects as a singles competitor.
The concern over the team’s trajectory was also voiced by former WWE Champion Big E on the Clash in Paris post-show panel. He stated, “They’re at an impasse here… something’s gotta change,” while expressing his hope that the two could resolve their issues.
A split would mark the end of one of WWE’s most accomplished modern tag teams. Since debuting on NXT in March 2016, Dawkins and Ford have become Triple Crown Tag Team Champions, securing the NXT, Raw, and SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
