The Hardys captured the TNA World Tag Team Championships on Sunday, winning a chaotic four-way ladder match at Slammiversary. The victory gives Matt and Jeff Hardy their fourth reign with the titles.
The championship match, a signature environment for the legendary duo, also featured the defending champions The Nemeths, First Class, and The Rascalz. The end of the bout saw The Hardys deliver Twists of Fate to both Nic and Ryan Nemeth with steel chairs wrapped around their heads. This allowed them to climb the ladder and retrieve the belts.
Following the match, the new champions were confronted by Bully Ray. He entered the ring and challenged The Hardys to face Team 3D one last time at the upcoming Bound For Glory event.
The title win concludes The Nemeths’ reign at 85 days and serves as redemption for The Hardys, who lost the belts to them at Rebellion in April. The victory carried high stakes, as Matt and Jeff had stated on TNA television that they would have to consider retirement had they been unsuccessful.
