During the post-Chamber media session, The Rock shared his thoughts on whether Cena might abandon his signature colorful shirts and jorts for a new heel persona.
That’s up to John. But I can tell you that jorts or no jorts, I think the thing I’m excited about is watching John perform this.
The Final Boss expanded on his perspective, highlighting the historical significance of Cena’s character shift.
Because if you think about it, he’s been our Babe Ruth, he’s been our Superman, he’s the guy you never ever thought would turn in this way, and he did. And it’s a big risk. And it’s ballsy to do something like that, and it’s gutsy. And he’s put a lot of thought into this, so I’m just really excited to see him, just performatively, what this version of John looks like.
The Rock provided his personal prediction about Cena’s appearance going forward.
So jorts – maybe, I don’t know. Knowing John, he’ll probably stay the exact same. And he’ll probably wear what he wears.
This transformation carries additional significance as Cena previously revealed in interviews that he had new gear and entrance music created for a planned heel turn over a decade ago, which was ultimately scrapped.
Cena will make his first appearance as a heel on the March 17 Raw in Brussels. He is also advertised for the March 24 and 31 episodes in Glasgow and London.
The 16-time world champion is scheduled to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41 in April, following his shocking betrayal at Elimination Chamber.
