The Young Bucks Should Have Already Returned to AEW

Matt and Nick Jackson remain off AEW TV since October 2024 despite creative proposals; still hold EVP titles but show limited backstage presence.

The Young Bucks Should Have Already Returned to AEW

The prolonged absence of Matt and Nick Jackson from AEW television continues to spark discussion among fans and talent alike. The tag team has not appeared on AEW programming since dropping the World Tag Team Championship to Private Party last October.

According to a report from Fightful Select released ahead of AEW Dynasty, several talent-driven creative proposals involving the Young Bucks have been pitched internally over recent months. Many within the company expected the duo would have already returned to television by now.

There have been some internal pitches from talent involving the Young Bucks in recent months, with many thinking they would have returned by now.

While the brothers technically retain their Executive Vice President positions alongside Kenny Omega, their actual presence at AEW events has been minimal. During a recent Q&A session, Sean Ross Sapp confirmed, “They remain in those positions [as EVPs],” but noted that “the Young Bucks, in particular, have had limited presence at AEW events,” often departing venues well before shows commence.

The Jackson brothers had initially planned for an extended break, but that hiatus has clearly stretched beyond what was anticipated by their colleagues. The fact that internal pitches are already being developed suggests the door remains open for their eventual return, though no official timeline exists for when Matt and Nick might reappear on AEW broadcasts.

Both backstage personnel and the AEW fanbase have taken notice of the prolonged absence of two founding members from the company’s programming.
