The battle lines between AEW and WWE are being drawn once again—this time not on a Wednesday night, but on pay-per-view weekend. As the two promotions prepare to clash this Saturday, one of AEW’s top champions is not only unfazed but openly welcoming the challenge.
Speaking on the SandmanPodcast, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm addressed WWE’s decision to schedule its Wrestlepalooza event for September 20, the same day as AEW All Out. Instead of treating it as a predatory move, Storm fired back with a direct challenge.
“I think it’s great. Come on, fight me! Come on!”
Beyond the bravado, Storm also took a practical view of the situation, noting that from a corporate standpoint, WWE’s move makes sense. “Be a bit weird of them as a large corporation to just do nothing. It’d be a silly business decision not to. It’s their job.”
Storm’s perspective carries weight, considering her history with WWE. She spent over three years with the company before requesting her release in late 2021 and later joining AEW in the spring of 2022. She made her stance clear, stating she has no plans to return to her former employer and intends to stay in AEW for good.
Her confidence reflects the tone from the top of the company, with owner Tony Khan recently describing AEW’s current position as “tremendous.” Storm echoed that sentiment, closing her remarks with a declaration of AEW’s place in the wrestling landscape.
“We’re the ol’ hot ticket, we’re the talk of the town.” (h/t WrestleTalk)
