Tony Khan Accused of Being a Liar by AEW Fans

AEW’s social media account stirred controversy by initially referring to AEW Grand Slam: Australia as a pay-per-view event. The original post stated: “We are just 7 Days out from #AEWGrandslam Australia on PPV at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre!”

Following swift editing to remove the PPV reference, fans brought attention to the discrepancy on social media.

Take 2 is it.

We see those edits.

When you forget to go in and edit a scheduled tweet!

Wow. The original tweet was scheduled for 5 pm likely weeks ago and said PPV. So it was intended to be a PPV and y’all lied about it.

Tony Khan addressed the broadcasting format in a recent TV Insider interview.

Yes. Having this be a TV event has always been the plan. That’s something that the network wanted. It’s something the network brought to us recently as an opportunity to follow NBA All-Star Saturday. We saw it as a huge opportunity. It was a great vote of confidence for our partners at Warner Brothers Discovery. It will be one of the biggest nights of the year on TNT. It’s a great opportunity given the lead-in.

The event will take place on February 15th at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, with some fans expressing disappointment over the lack of refunds following the venue change from Suncorp Stadium.
