Tony Khan Announces Major Segment For Upcoming AEW Dynamite

Following her successful and grueling title defense at All In, AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm will have a victory speech on the upcoming July 16 episode of AEW Dynamite. The segment was confirmed by AEW President Tony Khan, setting the stage for the champion to address the audience after one of the biggest wins of her career.

The celebration comes on the heels of Storm’s hard-fought victory over Mercedes Moné this past Saturday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. In a widely acclaimed 25-minute match, Storm retained her championship and handed Moné her first singles defeat in the company. The win marked a significant moment in Storm’s record-setting fourth reign with the title.

Their championship encounter was the culmination of an intense rivalry, which saw Storm criticize Moné’s character on Dynamite, claiming she had “the authenticity of a spray tan in a rainstorm” and “the emotional depth of a kiddie pool.” The match itself was a physical affair, with Storm’s nose being bloodied and both competitors kicking out of multiple finishing maneuvers before Storm secured the pinfall with an Avalanche Storm Zero.

Less than 24 hours after her major pay-per-view match, Storm also made a surprise appearance at a Prestige Wrestling event in Portland, Oregon, for a meet and greet with fans. While Storm celebrates her victory, her next challenge is already on the horizon. At All In, Athena won the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match, positioning herself as the new number-one contender for the AEW Women’s World Championship.

This week’s AEW Dynamite, which will also feature a six-man tag team match pitting Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta against Hangman Page, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Mark Briscoe, is the first of a six-show residency for the company at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom.
