Tony Khan Comments on John Cena’s Heel Turn in WWE

AEW President Tony Khan addressed whether John Cena’s recent heel turn in WWE would influence AEW’s creative direction during the AEW Revolution media call.

“I think we’re really very happy with the shows right now, I think the quality of show has been tremendous and we helped build a lot of excitement around the original Revolution by just doing great shows,” Khan stated on the call.

Khan emphasized that continuing to deliver high-quality programming around the upcoming pay-per-view will benefit AEW. “We do take big swings and do exciting things on the shows and we have big developments, big matches, big moments, and I wanna keep doing that, but I don’t want to change anything we’re doing just because another wrestling promotion has changed what they’re doing.”

Despite maintaining his focus on AEW’s own creative direction, Khan acknowledged awareness of developments across the wrestling industry. He added that while he monitors industry activities, his primary concentration remains on AEW Revolution this weekend rather than WWE or other promotions.

Cena’s heel turn occurred at WWE Elimination Chamber, marking his first villainous role since his “Doctor of Thuganomics” character. According to the source, this development has dominated industry conversation, overshadowing storylines elsewhere in WWE itself.
