Top Star Declines WWE Invitation to Evolution

Ahead of the all-women’s Evolution II premium live event scheduled for July 13th, former Divas Champion Kelly Kelly has declined an invitation to attend. The former champion explained her decision was based on the nature of the offer, which was for her to appear as a spectator in the crowd.

The situation comes just a few months after Kelly signed a WWE Legends contract earlier in 2025, officially bringing her back into the company’s fold for non-wrestling roles. However, she has made it clear that any return to programming should be more substantial than a background appearance. In a public statement on X, she detailed her reasoning.

“Thank you love 🥹, I was so honored to be invited to Evolution II—to sit in the crowd—it just didn’t feel like the right way to come back. I’ll always be proud to have been part of the first. My heart is with every woman in that ring tomorrow. I’ll be back when the time’s right ❤️.”

This stance aligns with her previously stated desire to return to the ring under the right circumstances, including wanting her twin children to have the opportunity to see her perform. Kelly’s most recent in-ring appearance was as a surprise entrant in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match, a stark contrast to the passive role she was offered for Evolution II. While she expressed full support for the women competing, Kelly is holding out for a more active and fitting comeback.
