Top WWE Star May Relinquish Title Due to Injury
Bryan Alvarez reveals during Wrestling Observer Live that one champion between Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer requires time off for injury recovery, prompting their title vs. title match at NXT Roadblock.

WWE has scheduled a champion vs. champion match between NXT Women’s Champion Giulia and NXT Women’s North American Champion Stephanie Vaquer for NXT Roadblock on March 11. The unexpected booking decision now has an explanation, as one of the champions will need to drop their title due to injury.
On the February 25 episode of NXT, Giulia issued a challenge to Vaquer for a title vs. title match at the upcoming Roadblock special. The announcement generated significant fan interest, particularly given both performers’ relatively recent arrival to WWE’s developmental brand.
Without spoiling it, because if I spoil it I spoil the match, one of these women is banged up, needs time off. And so they’re doing the match and then she’s taking time off. So that’s what happened.
Alvarez deliberately avoided specifying which champion is dealing with the injury, as it would telegraph the match outcome. This injury situation appears to have accelerated WWE’s plans for a high-profile encounter between the two champions.
Both Giulia and Vaquer joined WWE earlier this year after successful careers in international promotions. The company positioned them prominently upon arrival, quickly placing championships on both performers.
In addition to this women’s championship clash, WWE has announced another champion vs. champion match for NXT Roadblock. NXT Champion Oba Femi will defend his title against TNA X-Division Champion Moose, further building the cross-promotional relationship between WWE and TNA Wrestling.
The real reason WWE is already doing Giulia vs Stephanie Vaquer in a double championship match at NXT Roadblock in two weeks is because one of them needs time off due to being "banged up":

AJ Styles sent a supportive message to Indi Hartwell after her WWE release in November 2024, encouraging her not to give up on her wrestling career.
Hartwell shared the encouraging words from Styles in her latest vlog update, revealing what the veteran performer told her following her departure from the company.
Keep battling, don’t quit. The reason for everything is always there. Don’t let this be the end of the story. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.
Hartwell resumed her wrestling career in Australia after her WWE exit, winning the Renegades of Wrestling Women’s Championship.
The Australian wrestler competed against Mercedes Mone at House of Glory City of Dreamz on March 15. This marked Mone’s first independent match since 2012.
Styles dealt with his own career challenges recently. During a separate interview, he revealed a foot injury nearly forced him into retirement.
The former World Champion suffered the injury during a match against Carmelo Hayes in October and didn’t return to action until the 2025 Royal Rumble.
Styles mentioned that while he avoided surgery, retirement was a real possibility, and physical therapy wasn’t guaranteed to resolve the issue.

It was very quick. I was in a circle talking to people. He came to [shake] everyone’s hand. He shook my hand. But the thing was, when he walked away, all the girls were like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ I’m like, ‘Shh, shh, He’s married, be respectful.’ And that was it. That was nice, and it was great because breaking the ice and you know, we just both happened to be back at the same time. It’s a good feeling.

Former WWE Star Now in AEW Rejects Notion of Being Demoted in Final Days with Company
Former WWE superstar Ricochet explains during a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez that he viewed his WWE Speed Championship role as an opportunity rather than a downgrade.

Ricochet expressed no negative feelings about being crowned the first-ever WWE Speed Champion during his final months with the company. The now-AEW wrestler addressed the topic in a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez.
Some fans had viewed the booking decision as a potential downgrade for Ricochet, who had rarely appeared on television since his loss to Logan Paul at SummerSlam 2023. However, the high-flying performer maintained a positive perspective on the opportunity.
No… You got to look at everything as an opportunity and if you don’t, then I think you’re already kind of defeated. You have to look at everything — especially, you know, they were putting something into this and I wanted to be a part of, again, building something. Building something and making it as big as possible. I like that feeling and so, again, any opportunity you get, you gotta strike and that’s kind of the way I see it and that’s with everything. Life, wrestling, everything.
Ricochet had previously held the Intercontinental Championship during his six-year WWE tenure before departing for AEW.
In a separate interview late last year, Ricochet made a notable claim about his impact on the wrestling industry. The high-flyer suggested AEW as an entity would not exist without his work on the independent scene.
While he acknowledged he wasn’t solely responsible for the promotion’s creation, Ricochet stated he played a significant role in establishing the foundation for All Elite Wrestling.
