In a career-defining moment at Night of Champions, Jade Cargill cemented her ascent in WWE by winning the 2025 Queen of the Ring tournament. The victory came at the expense of the veteran Asuka inside the Jeddah Super Dome in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and secures Cargill a coveted world championship match at SummerSlam in August.
The final was a classic battle of power against technique. Asuka initially controlled the pace, grounding Cargill with a variety of submission holds. Cargill, however, consistently used her superior strength to power her way out of trouble. After a back-and-forth exchange that saw Asuka land a missile dropkick and a Codebreaker, and Cargill respond with a chokeslam and a powerbomb, the match reached its climax. Asuka locked in her signature Asuka Lock, but Cargill once again broke free. She then countered a running hip attack from Asuka and executed her Jaded finisher for the pinfall victory.
Following the match, Cargill delivered a powerful message in the ring, addressing her critics and looking toward the future.
“When I first entered this tournament, it felt like the world was on my shoulders. But you know what? For the people out there, who are doubting themselves, praise yourself… Don’t let them tell you who you are. You show them,” Cargill declared. “The grind don’t stop. A storm is coming for SummerSlam.”
The “storm” comment drew an immediate response from one of her fiercest rivals, the current Money in the Bank contract holder, Naomi. In a post on social media, Naomi made her intentions clear with a succinct message aimed directly at the new Queen of the Ring.
“Call me the STORM CHASER,” Naomi wrote.
For Cargill, the tournament win is the most significant of her WWE tenure thus far, placing her on a direct path to her first potential singles championship. Her journey to the crown included a qualifying victory in a Fatal-Four-Way match over Nia Jax, Michin, and Piper Niven, followed by a semifinal win against Roxanne Perez.
