Following the main event at Clash in Paris on August 31, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H addressed Becky Lynch’s interference that secured the victory for her husband, Seth Rollins. During the post-show press conference, Triple H praised Rollins for his resourcefulness, referring to Lynch as an “ace up his sleeve.”
The interference occurred during the final moments of the Fatal 4-Way match for the World Heavyweight Championship. As CM Punk was setting up Rollins for the Go to Sleep, a masked individual rushed the ring and delivered a low blow to Punk. The attacker then unmasked, revealing herself as Becky Lynch. The disruption allowed Rollins to recover and hit a Stomp onto a steel chair to pin Punk and win the match.
Triple H elaborated on the strategy behind the unexpected assist. “What’s that saying? Behind every great man is a greater woman,” he stated. “Just when you think all his cards are on the table and he’s got nothing left… He’s always got an ace up his sleeve.”
The CCO also acknowledged the likely repercussions of Lynch’s actions, noting that the situation is far from over. “I would imagine CM Punk is gonna want to have a conversation about that, but kudos to Seth Rollins for always finding a way,” he added.
With the victory, Rollins retained the World Heavyweight Championship against a field that also included Jey Uso and LA Knight. The controversial finish capped off a successful night for the couple, as Lynch had earlier retained her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship in a match against Nikki Bella.
