Triple H addresses plans for John Cena's retirement tour - "John has a different mindset"
WWE’s Chief Content Officer details plans for John Cena’s farewell tour, confirming his last appearances at major events throughout 2025.
Triple H has revealed John Cena’s upcoming appearances will mark his final run at WWE’s major events. Speaking on the SI Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina, WWE’s Chief Content Officer discussed Cena’s commitment for his farewell year:
John is of a different mindset for sure, he’s the most disciplined guy I’ve ever met. I think he’ll always be a part of WWE, I think it’s in his DNA, I think he’ll always do stuff with us, I think he’ll always be a part of it, but in-ring as a performer, I think when he is done, he is done. What the year will look like, we’re still figuring it out, obviously John’s very busy, but he has made this prime commitment for the year and he’s kind of all in, so he’s going to make some live events, he’s going to make TV’s, he’ll make select premium live events. He’s going to wrestle a lot, he’s going to perform a lot, and then it’s sort of a one calendar year thing, and then he’s going to call it a day, so when you see him at the Royal Rumble, that’s his last Royal Rumble, when you see him at Elimination Chamber, last Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania, last one for the stuff that he’s at.
Cena addresses retirement tour expectations
During RAW’s Netflix premiere, Cena addressed his upcoming schedule and championship aspirations:
With all the speculation of like, ‘Oh, could it be this person, could it be this person,’ I just wanted to let the crowd know that I’m just grateful to have a chance.
The 16-time world champion committed to 36 dates with WWE and acknowledged the uncertainty of pursuing another title reign:
I just don’t know what my best at 48 looks like. I can tell you what my best at 27 looks like, even 35. Hell, even 40. I’ll do my best, but let’s find out what that looks like.
