Triple H approves Braun Strowman's special role at independent wrestling event
Triple H authorizes Braun Strowman as special referee at Blizzard Brawl 19, highlighting WWE’s continued collaboration with independent wrestling promotions. Event features charity component.

Triple H has authorized Braun Strowman to participate as a special referee at Blizzard Brawl 19, an upcoming event organized by Great Lakes Championship Wrestling. The former Universal Champion’s appearance at the independent show marks a continuation of WWE’s recent collaborative approach with outside promotions.
Strowman’s involvement in the December 7 event at the Waukesha County Expo Center includes both officiating duties and a charity Meet & Greet session. The proceeds will support the Neosha Dam Fund and Honor Middle School in Neosha.
The main event features “The Newest Rockers” Al Snow and Kal Herro, with Marty Jannetty in their corner, facing off against former WWE competitors Damien Sandow and Santino Marella, who will be accompanied by Doug Basham.
This appearance follows Strowman’s recent return to in-ring action. After suffering a groin injury during his Last Monster Standing victory over Bronson Reed on RAW in September, he made his comeback in a post-SmackDown dark match on November 15, teaming with Dragon Lee and Rey Mysterio to defeat Carlito, JD McDonagh, and Finn Balor.
WWE’s evolving approach to outside promotions
WWE’s relationship with independent wrestling organizations has undergone notable changes in recent months. The company’s decision to allow talent appearances at external events represents a shift in their traditional business model, with Triple H playing a key role in these developments.
The collaboration between WWE and independent promotions has garnered positive responses from wrestling fans, particularly as it provides unique opportunities for talent to participate in special events while maintaining their WWE commitments.
