Former WWE head writer Vince Russo has taken aim at Triple H’s creative strategy, claiming the executive is bringing back major names only to bury them. Speaking on Sportskeeda’s Legion of RAW, Russo argued that the quick succession of returns for stars like Nikki Bella and AJ Lee ultimately hurts everyone involved by prioritizing short-term crowd reactions over meaningful booking.
Russo labeled WWE’s head of creative the “King of Pops,” asserting that the current approach lacks the necessary focus to properly establish talent. “Bro, they just brought Nikki Bella back,” Russo stated. “So, you bring Nikki Bella back, that was a pretty big deal… get Nikki over first.”
His criticism comes as Nikki Bella’s return has hit a rough patch on-screen. After unsuccessfully challenging Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Clash in Paris, Bella was defeated decisively on the September 8 edition of Monday Night Raw. In her first-ever singles match against Asuka, the Hall of Famer was forced to tap out clean to the Asuka Lock in the middle of the ring.
For Russo, this pattern proves his point about a diluted focus. “…the fact they bring Nikki Bella in and literally weeks later they’re bringing AJ Lee in, nobody’s gonna get over… there’s no focus on anybody,” he concluded.
