The fallout from WWE’s Wrestlepalooza premium live event has been swift, with many fans taking to social media (via ITR Wrestling) to voice frustration with Triple H over what they perceive as broken promises.
The backlash centers on the main event, which saw Cody Rhodes retain the Undisputed WWE Championship over Drew McIntyre. Many viewed this as a direct contradiction to Triple H’s pre-show hype, which promised fans the “final form of sports and entertainment,” only to deliver a result critics felt was predictable. Heading into the Indianapolis event, a significant portion of the audience anticipated a title change for The Scottish Warrior.
While the main event drew the most ire, the rest of the card offered a chaotic mix of results. The night opened with a brutal contest inside the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where Brock Lesnar dismantled John Cena as part of his ongoing retirement tour. In a dominant showing, Lesnar endured three Attitude Adjustments before finishing the 17-time champion with six F5s, adding one more after the bell for good measure.
Other notable moments included a tag team match against The Vision that saw Jey Uso busted open badly enough to require an audible to finish the bout.
The show did have highlights. Both the Women’s World Championship match between Iyo Sky and Stephanie Vaquer and the mixed tag team bout pitting CM Punk and AJ Lee against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch were reportedly well-received by the live crowd.
Despite these positives, the main event’s conclusion soured the experience for many. Disappointed viewers quickly flooded X (formerly Twitter) with criticism, labeling Triple H a “fraud.” One user wrote he was “back on fraud watch,” while another bluntly declared the WWE executive was “full of s—t.”
