Paul “Triple H” Levesque is now leading the creative direction for Lucha Libre AAA. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports this change comes after WWE acquired a majority stake in the promotion. Levesque’s core creative team includes Jeremy Borash, The Undertaker, Konnan, and Dorian Roldan.
This creative restructuring is the most significant operational move since the acquisition was finalized on August 1. WWE now holds a 51% majority stake in the Mexican company, with the founding Peña family remaining involved in business operations.
A larger group of producers will support the core team. This group includes Matt Bloom, Pete Dunne, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Moody Jack, Savio Vega, and Lince Dorado. Of the entire new team, only Konnan and Roldan possess extensive experience working within Mexico.
Shawn Michaels also provides input directly to Levesque. He is not part of the main team due to his responsibilities with NXT, though he has made appearances at AAA events.
The move aligns with Levesque’s publicly stated goal for the partnership. He previously said WWE wants to “enhance” lucha libre, not fundamentally change it, while creating paths for talent to become global stars.
The new WWE-AAA partnership has already produced significant results. The recent Triplemania XXXIII event drew a record-breaking 4.1 million viewers in its first 24 hours, signaling increased interest under the new structure. This follows the first joint-promoted show, Worlds Collide, which took place in June.
